The Galaxy S24 was presented yesterday January 17, 2024. The smartphones will then be available for pre-order from January 19, until January 25, 2023. The Galaxy S24 will be sold on January 30 in all usual stores.

What's new in the Galaxy S24 Series

The Galaxy S series is part of a new era that will forever change the way mobile devices are used. Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhances virtually every experience offered by the Galaxy S24 Series. It breaks down language barriers for fluid communication with intelligent and instantaneous translation of texts and calls, unleashes creativity in photos and videos with the Galaxy ProVisual engine, and radically changes the way we search for information to discover otherwise the world around us.

New ways to communicate

The Galaxy S24s break down language barriers: chatting with a foreign student or colleague, or even making a reservation during a vacation in another country is now possible thanks to Instant Translation. This feature translates and transcribes telephone conversations in both directions in real time, in the available languages. Installed directly in the Phone application, it ensures its private nature.

With Interpreter, conversations between two people are translated and transcribed instantly on a screen divided in two, so that each person can read, hear, and understand what the other has just said. This feature does not require mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Translation of messages into several languages

For messages and other applications, the Message Assistant helps you find the right wording depending on your interlocutor: for example polite in the context of a message sent to a colleague, or short and impactful for social networks[5] . The AI integrated into the Samsung Keyboard can also translate messages or even emails in real-time and in 13 languages.

New ways to organize

With Notes Assistant built into Samsung Notes, being perfectly organized becomes child's play. Generative AI takes care of summaries and creates layouts to structure notes according to predefined formats. It also generates cover pages to easily find your notes and have an overview of their content.

Transcription Assistant uses AI to transcribe, summarize, and translate audio recordings, even of conversations between multiple people. The smartphone is capable of recognizing several interlocutors (up to 10) and can, at the end of the audio recording, provide a summary of the exchanges.

New ways to search

The Galaxy S24s are about more than just communication when it comes to bringing key phone functions into the future. Thus, the Galaxy S24 marks a new milestone in the history of online search by being the first smartphone to offer the Circle to search function with Google. To offer this incredible new tool, Galaxy has joined forces with Google, the world leader in search, and opened up new forms of discovery with a simple gesture. After a long press on the home button, the user can circle, highlight, draw, or tap any item displayed on their Galaxy S24 screen to get qualified and useful search results.

New ways of creating: always successful photos

The Galaxy S24 ProVisual Engine is a comprehensive suite of tools that leverage AI to transform the way people take photos and unleash their creativity. Pixelated and blurry images are a thing of the past. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with a photo block composed of 4 lenses, including a new x5 optical zoom associated with a 50MP sensor.

It offers optical zoom at x3 and x5 levels and optical quality zoom at x2 and x10 levels thanks to the Adaptive Pixel sensor. Night mode has also been reworked to take advantage of the Space Zoom of the Galaxy S24 whatever the conditions, and obtain an exceptional result even when the user then zooms in the image. 60% larger than those of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the photodiodes of the Galaxy S24 Ultra capture more light.

Blur is also reduced by the optical image stabilizer and better hand movement correction. In video, the front and rear cameras are equipped with a mode specially designed to reduce noise and the Galaxy S24 analyzes gyroscopic data to differentiate the movements of the user from those of the subject being filmed. Videos are therefore of better quality in low light, even from a distance.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra features the “Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”. Optimized specifically for Galaxy users, this processor boosts the NPU for incredibly efficient AI processing. The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are equipped with an Exynos 2400 processor which will also offer an exceptional level of performance on both models.

All Galaxy S24 series displays feature an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz for optimal performance.

With Samsung's brightest Galaxy display, content has never been so vibrant and captivating. The Galaxy S24s reach a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits and thanks to the Vision Booster function, outdoor visibility is breathtaking. The resistant screen of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is made of Corning® Gorilla® Armor glass. It also drastically reduces glare by up to 75% in different lighting conditions, ensuring a more comfortable viewing experience

Availability and pre-order offer

The Galaxy S24s will be sold from January 31. From January 17 to 30 (midnight) buyers of a Galaxy S24 will see the smartphone's storage capacity doubled for the same price. They will also benefit from a trade-in bonus of up to €100 (€50 for the Galaxy S24 and €100 for the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra).
